How to Use This Website – A Simple Guide!

Here's a quick and easy guide to help you get the most out of our website:

Courses

We’ve got four courses for you: Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji, and Vocabulary.

In each course, you can choose to practice, take a test, or change the settings.

In the settings, you can pick the group (like school level for Kanji), how to sort the items (for example, by stroke count), and how many items to study per session. We're the only site that gives you this much control over your learning!

Practice: No error limits! You can make as many mistakes as needed to learn.

Tests: You have limited "lives," like in a video game. If you lose all your lives by making mistakes, the test ends.

The sessions work like a game:

You’ll first see what you’re going to be asked and try to remember it. Then, when the game starts, you’ll be shown an item (like a Kanji) and asked to recall its reading or meaning. This method helps you learn faster by using your memory! As you get more correct answers, your progress goes up. Reach 100%, and you win!

If you pass the test, the items you’ve learned are moved to your reviews.

Reviews

Your reviews are scheduled using spaced repetition, meaning you’ll review less often but remember more. If you get something right, it’ll be spaced out further in the future. If you get it wrong, it’ll come up sooner to help you focus on what you need to work on.

Here's how it works:

You learn something today, review it an hour later, then the next day, two days later, and so on. Eventually, you’ll review it weeks or even months later, which means it’s memorized for good!

Content Pages

We also have content pages where you can explore all the Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji, and Vocabulary. You can change the group and sort options, track your progress, and even practice or take tests.

The difference here is that items you’ve learned are not removed like in the courses. This is great if you want to study specific items. For example, if you’re cramming for the JLPT N5 test, you can go to the content page for Kanji, group by JLPT level, and study without messing up your course or review progress.
