You can play Jan Ken Po (ジャンケン) right here against the computer, complete with the traditional countdown and Japanese hand names.
What is Jan Ken Po?
Jan Ken Po (ジャンケン) is the Japanese name for the universally recognized game of rock-paper-scissors. Players simultaneously form one of three shapes with an outstretched hand:
- グー (Goo) — the fist, equivalent to rock.
- チョキ (Choki) — the scissors hand (the V sign).
- パー (Paru) — the open hand, equivalent to paper.
The outcome is decided by these rules: グー (rock) crushes チョキ (scissors), チョキ (scissors) cuts パー (paper), and パー (paper) covers グー (rock). When both players show the same hand, the round is a draw.
How to Play Jan Ken Po
- Make Your Hand: When the game prompts you with "ジャン・ケン・ポン?", click or tap on one of the three hand buttons: グー, チョキ, or パー.
- Watch the Countdown: The game counts down "ジャン!" → "ケン!" → "ポン!", then reveals the computer's hand.
