If You choose to sign in with Google, Google provides Us with the email address and name associated with Your Google account at the time You sign in. Your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google's own privacy practices.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.

Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Analytics and Third-Party Tracking Services

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and analyze the Service. We distinguish between two categories of tracking:

  • Essential tracking (always active). PostHog, an analytics platform provided by PostHog, Inc. (data hosted at app.posthog.com), is essential to the proper functioning of the Service and is always active. It collects event data, page views, and, when You are logged in, an identifier and email address associated with Your Account. We use this data internally to monitor and improve the Service (including, where applicable, the Japanese-learning and gamification features); we do not sell this data to third parties. PostHog may route this traffic through a managed reverse proxy operated on PostHog's behalf, in which case Your data is transmitted to and processed by PostHog's subprocessor Cloudflare, Inc. (a content delivery and security provider) for the purpose of routing, SSL termination, and protection, in accordance with PostHog's Data Processing Agreement.
  • Essential error monitoring (always active). Sentry, an error and performance monitoring platform provided by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) with data hosted at sentry.io, is essential to the proper functioning of the Service and is always active. It collects error events, stack traces, performance data, and session data (including page loads and navigation activity) used to compute crash-free and adoption metrics. When You are logged in, We associate a Sentry identifier and email address with Your Account so that errors and sessions can be attributed to You; otherwise, a randomly generated identifier is stored in Your browser's local storage to track usage without identifying You. We use this data internally to detect, diagnose, and fix errors and to monitor the health of the Service; we do not sell this data to third parties.
  • Non-essential external tracking (opt-out). We also integrate external services — Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — which set cookies and similar identifiers to analyze usage of the Service. These services are loaded by default when You browse the Website (continued use of the Website constitutes implicit consent for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy).   • MediaVine (Journey) — we collaborate with MediaVine, Inc. (doing business as Mediavine Advertising), whose Journey ad platform serves advertisements on the Website. MediaVine and its advertising partners may set cookies (including third-party cookies) and similar identifiers to collect information about Your browsing behavior across the Website and other sites in order to display interest-based advertisements. Journey advertisements are served on pages of the Website where advertising is enabled and are not displayed while You are signed in or on pages where advertising is disabled.   • With Service Providers: We may share Your personal information with Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service, to contact You, and to support our analytics, advertising, error monitoring, and affiliate programs. The Service Providers we engage for these purposes include analytics providers such as PostHog and Google Analytics (and, where PostHog's managed reverse proxy is used, PostHog's subprocessor Cloudflare, Inc.), error-monitoring providers such as Sentry, advertising and content-sharing platforms, hosting providers such as DigitalOcean, and affiliate networks such as LemonSqueezy. Each Service Provider is contractually bound to use Your Personal Data only for the specific purposes for which it was engaged.
  • For business transfers: We may share or transfer Your personal information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of Company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business to another company.

Retention of Your Personal Data
